Produced by Kite Entertainment to ring in 2021 after quite an unforgettable year, The RTÉ NYE Countdown Show was hosted by Kathryn Thomas and Deirdre O’ Kane from Dublin’s famed Gaiety Theatre and was a true celebration of Ireland’s most talented musicians and comedians. With a spine-tingling Riverdance performance kicking off proceedings, the music and comedy just kept on coming as Irish stars such as Sharon Shannon, Jerry Fish, Mary Coughlan and Brian Kennedy took to the Gaiety stage while guests such as Prof. Luke O’Neill, Senator Lynn Ruane, comedian Jason Byrne and GAA legend Marty Morrissey joined Deirdre and Kathryn for a chat about a year that none of us will forget.
The moment that stole the show was an incredible reimagining of The Saw Doctors classic N17, performed by Tolü Makay along with some very moving messages from Irish families around the world who couldn’t make it home for the Christmas period.
